Tank Storage and Logistics

Pump solutions for tank farms, import and export terminals

HERMETIC defines the ‘Tank Storage and Logistics’ market segment as comprising applications across the storage, handling and logistics chain for alternative energy sources such as LNG, methanol and ammonia. These include tank farms, import and export terminals, interim storage facilities, bunkering hubs, and loading and transfer processes onshore and at the interface with ships.

Different technical requirements arise depending on the medium: LNG requires cryogenic handling technology; methanol places high demands on media compatibility and explosion protection; whilst ammonia, due to its toxicity, requires particular leak-tightness, material resistance and safety concepts. At the same time, large flow rates must be handled reliably and cost-effectively in continuous operation.

HERMETIC supports operators and plant engineers with hermetically sealed pump solutions for the safe, emission-free and low-maintenance handling of critical media. This enables alternative energy sources to be reliably stored, handled and transported, even under demanding operating conditions.

HERMETIC Solutions and Benefits

Green centrifugal pump with flanged connections and mounting base for industrial applications in the wind power sector

In-tank pump

  • Submersible pump design – the pumped fluid cools and lubricates the motor, eliminating the need for external cooling or lubrication systems.
  • No couplings or alignment work required – the direct-drive design prevents misalignment, vibrations and the need for regular adjustments.
  • No external bearings or oil systems – fewer components mean fewer potential sources of failure and no routine maintenance.
  • Fully enclosed system – protected against contamination, corrosion and environmental influences inside the tank.
  • Designed for continuous operation – engineered for long running times, high MTBF values and minimal operational effort.
  • Safe start-up and energy-efficient operation thanks to demand-based speed control via a variable frequency drive.
  • Reduced life-cycle costs – maintenance-free operation minimises downtime as well as costs for spare parts and servicing over the pump’s entire service life. Easy integration:
    • Suitable for new installations or retrofits
    • Maintenance can be carried out without draining the tank
